What is Health Coaching?

A health coaching session is a collaborative and client-centred approach to improving an individual's overall health and well-being. As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach . I work with clients to set and achieve health-related goals, make sustainable lifestyle changes and optimise their physical and mental health. 


Drawing from over 13 years of experience, I have worked with integrated health professionals to navigate complex health conditions within myself, my immediate family and among my clients.

How does Health Coaching work?

Here's a breakdown of the process we follow when collaborating.


  • Introductory chat - I offer all new potential clients a complimentary 30 minute chat. It is the first conversation where we get to know each other. We discuss your health goals, share basic information, and create a starting point for our coaching journey. 


  • Initial Assessment - This 90 minute session begins with me assessing and compiling a detailed health timeline, incorporating your health history as well as your current health status, including your physical health, diet/nutrition, exercise habits, stress levels and overall lifestyle.


  • Action Planning - We identify how many sessions you will sign up for as there are various packages available. Collaboratively, we work together to identify specific health objectives. We then work together to create a personalised action plan to achieve those goals. This plan often includes specific steps, timelines and strategies to overcome obstacles.


  • Regular Sessions - Health coaching typically involves regular sessions of 45 minute which can be in-person, over the phone or via video conferencing. The frequency of sessions may vary depending on the client's needs and goals. I usually recommend starting with a block of 6, 10 or 12 sessions.

    • 5 x 45 min follow sessions with your dedicated Health Coach
  • Block of 10 health coaching sessions.

    Initial health assessment plus 9 follow up sessions
    Valid for 4 months
    • 1 x 90 min initial health assessment with your health coach
    • 9 x 45 mins health coaching sessions
  • Block of 12 health coaching sessions

    Initial health assessment plus 11 follow up sessions
    Valid for 6 months
    • 1 x 90 min initial health assessment with your health coach
    • 11 x 45 min health coaching sessions.

Question: What is a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach? 

ANSWER: A professional who has completed “The gold standard in health coaching education” at the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy. The only program designed in collaboration with the Institute of Functional Medicine based in Chicago, USA. An approved health and wellness coaching program by the National board of Health and Wellness Coaching (NBHWC).

How do I help clients?

 I use functional medicine principles and positive psychology coaching techniques to:

  • Motivate clients to reach their ultimate health vision for themselves.

  • Coach clients through dietary changes, food plans and physical activity protocols.

  • Offer tools and accountability when clients implement new lifestyle changes.

  • Work directly with the client’s practitioner when appropriate and help educate them, so they understand the doctors plan of care.

  • Celebrate successes and encourage progress.

  • Lead clients through group coaching on specific topics.
